New limit on domains per account - 2009-03-23 10:26:48
There is now a 5 domains per account limit to help reduce the amount of spam/ garbage domains being created. We have had several complaints already over these domains.

 Abuse - 2009-03-23 09:44:02
We have had a few reports of what seems to be abuse of what our system was origionally designed for. People creating lots of domains with worthless content and clogging up google for some purpose. If you see this, please don't send a flame letter like the last idiot did. Send us the information, we'll investigate and disable if required.

 Login Issue - 2007-07-20 17:33:01
An issue logging in was reported by multiple users and has been corrected. Sorry for the inconvience.

 fDNS V3.0 Beta - 2007-04-03 01:14:39
Version 3.0 Beta has been launched. If you experience any errors/bugs, please use the contact form to drop us an email with the details. Thanks

 DNS Server Update - 2007-03-26 00:43:40
We have some great news - we have done a major DNS server update. We are now using easyDNS for 5 of our 7 DNS servers. easyDNS provides increadible dns service and we are leveraging them to make our service better. Also we are currently working on a new software release. This will be the first software release in about 6 years. Also we are interested in hearing from the community on other similar services we could offer to the community. Drop us an email (support2 [at] fdns.net) ..

 Website outage - 2007-03-12 17:38:50
Our website was down for a period of time, thanks to all who reported the issue. Everything is back up and running again

 1 Hour Refreshes?!?! - 2006-03-06 09:29:00
Well Velkro twisted my arm, and we are now operating at a 1 hour refresh interval. I guess with a more dynamic, faster moving world, so do we. Have fun.

 Invalid TXT Records - 2004-01-03 18:32:01
People have been adding a wack of invalid TXT records. They do not have equal number of quotes. That is multiple text fields must have quotes on either end to be balanced correctly. I will be adding extra checks shortly to ensure that all quotes are equal. For now the TXT records removed will just have to be re-added correctly by their owners.

 Happy holidays/update - 2003-12-26 17:56:34
We had some small issues before with one of the nameservers that has been corrected now. And if you didn't notice we moved 2 of the primary name/web servers. Happy holidays from everyone at FDNS.

 EMail address updated - 2003-10-22 12:53:16
Well it seems that the SPAM masters have harvested my fdns email, as I have been getting like 50 emails a day about viagara, Sildenafil Citrate, and a wack of other crap.. Hopefully they don't know something that I don't ;) .. Anyway I have eliminated my old contact email and am now using b0nzie [at] fdns [d0t] net .. If anyone needs to contact me, please use this new untainted one.

 DNS Down - 2003-10-05 01:27:52
One of our root DNS servers is not answering.. I contacted the admin who is looking into it.. To help fix things until it is back in sync, I have removed them as a root NS for now.. Sorry for any inconvience... Some people reported MX failure which would be the most common issue

 2.5 Released - 2003-09-29 21:32:29
I have just loaded version 2.5 online. It has support for TXT records, as well as MX1 and MX2 mail exchanger configuration for HOST based names. When you are adding MX exchangers, the system checks to ensure it can resolve the name, if it cannot, it will not add it. Also be sure to just enter the name such as mail.mydomain.com - do not add a trailing . (period), our system will add it, and it will not take a domain with a trailing period. If you have ANY problems, please email me with the details so I can check into it ASAP. have fun.

Auto MX added to hosts - 2003-09-25 15:33:22
As a request, we are configuring the system to automatically add a MX record for all HOST based records that point to itself. In the future we will probably add a feature to turn this on/off aswell as configure a different name/ip as the MX for the host.. Fornow this will help some people out and when we get some development time we can look at some of the new features we have lined up. ttyl.

 Blackout?!?! - 2003-08-16 08:41:00
Well we are finally back online after that massive eastern northamerican power outage & sweeping blackouts.. wow.. It's possible that anyone who created a host/account on the 15th from midnight to 4pm when the power went out doesn't exist.. I had to restore from a backup to get online.. anyone got a spare generator to lend us ;)

 V2.2 deployed! - 2003-05-12 14:31:18
I just deployed V2.2 of fDNS site.. Few small updates, added to the stats on the right to show number of IPSec keys along with users and domains. Also changed the code to use a different java DNS library that was easier to integrate.. ttyl

 Version 2.1 Released! - 2002-10-24 15:30:30
I have just released the lastest version of fdns. This new version adds IPSEC key suport for host based entries. Velkro is going to write up a how-to/info in the next few days and we will post it. If you run into any problems, please email me. Thanks

 Small Zone Problem - FIXED - 2002-06-21 12:56:56
Velkro and I just fixed the zone problem that caused fdns to stop resolving names... Some illegal characters in a host name got into the database and hence filtered down into the generated zone file which caused the zone to not load and transfer down to other nameservers.. We've removed the offending host, reloaded the zone and will check into why/how the illegal characters got into the database.

 Jikes Implemented - 2002-05-07 16:47:19
We just installed the jikes compiler into our webserver container. Jikes is much faster than the standard JDK compiler. Most users won't notice this as it only matters on the 1st load of an uncompiled/cached page.. But it's a nice tool.. Check it out at: http://oss.software.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/jikes/ .. Later..

 OsCache Implemented - 2002-03-24 11:18:00
I have just installed the OsCache module in the FDNS website.. This module caches page components to speed page delivery and reduce database load. Anyone interested in java programming should definately check out this module @ http://www.opensymphony.com ..

 Happy New Year - 2002-01-01 00:12:00
Just took a minute out to drop an article in to wish everyone a good new year.. Hopefully we will be able add another service or something to fdns this year.. Last year mostly just brought the new version which has worked out excellent so far. Party on!

 Authorative Fixed - 2001-11-22 05:26:00
We got a few reports of problems with authorative domains, and checked the new zone file generator. It was not generating the zone file correctly. This has been fixed and all nameservers are working properly now.. Sorry for any interruption in service.

 FDNS v2 - Beta - 2001-11-17 00:00:00
We have just recently updated the system to the new version. Consider this system as beta and if you see or have any problems to drop us an email.

 FDNS v2 - Java Port - 2001-11-16 18:00:00
We are nearly complete the new version 2 of FDNS. Written in java, hopefully it will continue to support us for years to come. It has added syntax checking, etc. to ensure smooth operation.

 Transfer - 2000-08-11 11:30:59
We are currently in the process of transferring the FDNS system over to another group of maintainers... We have had little or no time... The new maintainers are going to do a massive upgrade to the hardware and a software re-write with more features that users have been requesting for sometime.... Latz.

 Upgrade COmplete.. - 2000-06-12 13:02:19
Ok.. I think things are back to normal.. I upgraded the BIND on the primary server, and tweaked a few configuration changes and I think things are back rocking.. Let us know if you have problems.. Latz.

 Server is wacky... - 2000-06-11 18:14:02
We've got alot of email lately about updates failing, etc.. So I'm working on it right now.. the primary nameserver is acting up right now.. and the database file got corrupted.. I've since rebuilt it and done a successfull zone transfer to the secondary and tertiary servers so they have the new addresses while I work on the primary... I'll hopefully remember to post another message when things are back to normal... Latz.

 Zone monkeys again!! - 2000-05-13 10:24:43
I've been away for awhile now and just noticed more people trying to zone transfer to the primary.. It's harmless but generates 10's of megs of logs... If this is you or know who.. please ask them to re-configure their BIND.. >> May 12 20:57:53 - named[7806]: unapproved update from [203.250.123.223].1043 for fdns.net

 Busy... - 2000-04-14 00:01:00
Everyone at fdns has been very busy working lately and much promised system updates have not happened... I have received many requests for some neat features that are within the control of fdns such as MX exchangers for hosts, etc. I'm planning on asking velkro to take over most of the administration of fdns and system development... Just basically too busy and I'm headed out of the country for a few months coming up soon.. The win32 client is complete, we just need to modify the system to handle it.. hopefully this month it will get enabled... Latz.

 Bah!!@! Named Xfer's - 2000-03-09 23:03:48
Over the past week or so I've noticed a large amount of people trying to do zone transfers for FDNS to our primary nameserver. This is definately a misconfiguration on the part of some users. Here are the IP's of people that need to check their configuration: 203.250.123.223 216.59.0.74 24.221.8.225 Basically they are generating 1000's upon 1000's of unauthoized transfer errors in the logfile.. I'm sure this isn't an attempt to overwrite the FNDS zone record, rather just a misconfiguration. If you are one of these people or know them, please have then check their configuration and if they need help to contact myself... Thanks!

 February Updates - 2000-02-03 15:52:23
Welcome to the new look for www.fdns.net.

We've got alot planned for February, so here's the quick list:

  • Site Redesign (now)
  • Windows Auto-Update Client Beta (Feb 10th)
  • Dynamic DNS Beta (Feb 20th)
Check back often this month for more updates...

 Updates Coming.. - 2000-01-07 13:32:39
Hey.. Everyone.. I'm actually going to spend time this weekend on FDNS... I'm planning on fixing a few validation things.. Javascript a few forms to makes things more idiot proof .. And I'm working on writing the Win32 auto-update client... Perhaps if I have time I can add on support for dynamic dns into the members area... As most people know the dynamic server took a dive, due to power outage and took a corrupted filesystem as a result... But now things are on UPS and I'm gonna run on a different box.. If anyone has any experience programming with Visualbasic/ Delphi/ VisualC and TCP/IP applications.. let me know I would appreaciate some help trying to write this systray application.. Later..

 Update... - 1999-12-01 11:38:55
Well, hopefully this will be the month to get the dynamic system online... The BSD server was hit by a power outages that pretty much pooched the filesystem... So I still have to check on its status.. Stay tuned..

 It's coming! - 1999-11-04 15:34:50
Eventually, I will get the Win32 client done.. It will be this month and when it's done I'm going to post an update on freshmeat.net to let everyone know that we are now supporting dynamic DNS with an auto-update win32 client. Latz.

 Off my back! - 1999-10-26 04:43:38
Finally!! .. After many, many times being asked to write a simple News posting form.. I've responded months later and got it done! Velkro go crazy and post some info...Latz.

 NameServer Online!!! - 1999-10-26 04:17:49
Wow.. After a bit of work.. The dynamic server is now online and answering queries. Currently there are just some test entries in the database for it to use but soon everyone will have access. I've dropped an email to Velkro about what we need to collaborate for an hour or so onto switch on the dynamic support in the members area and he will be getting back to me shortly. The Win32 auto-update client is still up in the air. I was contacted by someone interested in trying to write it but I haven't heard anything lately.. Hope to get one written soon ;) Cross your fingers and lets see if we can blow up the 486 DNS server. Latz.

Dynamic Is Being Worked On! - 1999-10-26 03:35:10
I'm currently writing all the scripts that will generage the *.dyn.fdns.net DNS resource files.. They should be done very soon and I will as Velkro to switch in the new HTML pages and check the FDNS-AUTOUPDATE DAEMON for compatibility. But I would have to guess by the end of this week things will be online with it. Running at 5 minute refreshes. Latz.

 Its been a long week - 1999-10-06 00:17:47
I have been working on many other sites as of lately and development has been at a stand still.. But I am going to talk his week to the person who I'm going to get to write the Win32 auto-update client.. Then post an update to freshmeat and we'll be back rocking.. Latz.

 Wow.. Time sure flies - 1999-09-02 17:57:34
Well another month is gone and development has slowed down.. The new dynamic box running BSD is online and running but myself and velkro have to get together for a few hours and bash out the new code/html for the dynamic updates.. It will be done during this month.. I have got alot more free time lately... Latz.

 Mail?? - 1999-08-22 03:04:47
Hrm?? I think people are getting a little confused or something... I've seen alot of hosts lately trying to use FDNS's server as a mail exchanger. This is not so.. It's busy enought doing other things.. It does not allow relaying for anyone and will definately not accept mail for your domain. I just wanted to clarify that FDNS currently only resolves hostnames to IP addresses. Possibly in the future we will offer services in that area but were working on dynamic DNS for now.. Latz.

 Tables Altered - 1999-08-08 18:46:00
We finally took some time this weekend and I modified the host tables to add support for dynamic hosts. Velkro modified the HTML stuff for new support and I will change the PHP code soon. The dyn.fdns.net nameserver is online so I hope it will me ok. More to come. Latz.

 Busy Month - 1999-08-03 00:28:23
Well, All of us here at FDNS have been very busy with projects in the past month or so and development on the new server has slowed to a halt.. I need to find more hardware to get the thing going.. So I looks like it will probably be about 6 weeks until there is a chance that dyn.fdns.net will go online... Other than that the system is functioning fine.. Latz.

 Power Outage - 1999-07-17 18:40:00
Well we had a small power outage at the primary web/sql/dns server earlier today... Everything seems fine tho.. If anyone has a UPS they would like to donate, I'd be happy to put the server on it ;) Latz.

 ddns.org Evaluated - 1999-07-15 09:10:05
Well after someone on IRC mentioning the ddns.org services I figured I'd better check out what everyone else is working on. The 1st problem I ran into was getting to the website??? On the ISDN connection I was on it took forever to lookup the DNS name and way longer to download the main page.. I guess it must be becuase there located in Singapore. So I looked around to find out that alot of their services are PAY... Which is bad ;(... Also both their primary and secondary nameserver are in Singapore. I reccommend that they find a server in North America to act as their backup. Our primary server is located in Canada and our backup in the UnitedStates. All in all it's not a bad system. I must give them credit for all the hard work and good service they are providing but I still feel that our system with the Domain Manager (which will soon support Dynamic DNS (Instant Reload!)) and it's ease of use is among the best in the business. Latz

 More Good News - 1999-07-06 13:50:00
After last night's little programming spree, we have almost finished up the admin side of fdns. That is we can easily delete/update users with the click of a mouse other than doing things manually like we have been doing in the past. Also we now have 3 DNS servers.. Our previous backup moves to a tertiary DNS and a new secondary DNS is online. I have decided to make the new DNS server the secondary due to it's geographical location and fast connection. Any problems be sure to drop us a email. I hope to get someone to write the Windows(TM) auto update program. After these last few projects are cleaned up Velkro and myself will start working on the dynamic DNS server (1 Minute Cache) .. I have another machine for it (486-Dx2/66 32MB) that we can use... That's still a few weeks off tho.. Latz.

 Site Updates - 1999-07-01 12:24:13
We've been working hard over the past few days on some new things - the auto-update client/servers are in alpha, and we're getting ready to start work on the Dynamic DNS service.

We've also been working behind the scenes on all the backend to make it simpler for us to manage the sudden influx of users and domains.

The system currently has over 650 users and 600 domains!

 Holy Cow!! - 1999-06-26 00:07:11
Wow!! I posted an article to www.freshmeat.net about the [fdns.net] system and they posted it the next day, thanks very much... Since then we have had a system explosion! Over 575 database transactions from 7:09pm -> 11:59pm .. And still rocking on.. I'm sitting here watching the weblogs go insane!! The system is just about to do a DNS rebuild/reload so I'd better hop over to the other window and make sure everything goes smoothly for the 100+ new domains on the system.. Latz.

 Primary DNS - 1999-06-25 09:20:37
The system has been working great lately.. But since we've got a new server going up down in the US, I'm going to change our backup DNS to that machine next week and our current backup to a tertiary backup. I hope this will result in even faster resolves. And if I get bored I might even make the US server a primary.

 WOW.. Cgo is a Merry-Go-Round - 1999-06-16 12:13:42
This is so funny... I wake up @ 6am, find myself with yet another new IP address and that I can't reach one of my primary servers??? Is CGO fucked? Not to sure, I can ping yahoo.com and a few other CGO linux boxes... So we do a traceroute back from the server (after logging in from another route) and get this: 5 206.186.75.130 (206.186.75.130) 22.229 ms 22.174 ms * 6 spc-tor-8-Serial5-0-0-27.Sprint-Canada.Net (207.107.244.49) 33.206 ms 29.616 ms 72.889 ms 7 brdr1-tor.tor.rns.net (206.186.250.142) 36.818 ms 26.688 ms 25.721 ms 8 cogeco.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.86) 38.06 ms 36.403 ms 102.696 ms 9 brdr1-tor.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.85) 37.179 ms 35.404 ms 28.062 ms 10 cogeco.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.86) 33.068 ms 33.446 ms 31.266 ms 11 brdr1-tor.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.85) 43.915 ms 36.051 ms 45.195 ms 12 cogeco.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.86) 34.129 ms 28.83 ms 36.61 ms 13 brdr1-tor.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.85) 41.663 ms 43.151 ms 38.055 ms 14 cogeco.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.86) 35.495 ms 38.433 ms 45.389 ms 15 brdr1-tor.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.85) 45.751 ms 33.315 ms 46.886 ms 16 cogeco.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.86) 40.227 ms 34.719 ms 37.135 ms 17 brdr1-tor.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.85) 41.951 ms 42.944 ms 41.782 ms 18 cogeco.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.86) 58.391 ms 34.552 ms 36.234 ms 19 brdr1-tor.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.85) 33.892 ms 59.094 ms 52.068 ms 20 cogeco.tor.rns.net (206.222.95.86) 47.603 ms 37.361 ms 40.212 ms ***** Wow!!! A mind numming router loop... Looks like they've done it again.. It's really funny when my IP changes I check out how many people have done updates on the system and there is always a spike in updates/logins.. It's so funny.... Latz.

 What's Up With CGO? - 1999-06-15 09:15:00
Wow.. CGO has really been going crazy lately!! It seems to be getting slower then my IP change for the I think 3rd time in 2 weeks.. Kind of a pain but not really with the help of this DNS service... If speeds keep dropping like this, myself and a bunch more will be leaving cable modems and moving on and ahead onto aDSL modems..

 Wow.. Its a new month?!! - 1999-06-02 10:49:50
Well.. It's june now and I figure I'd better write a news item so that the center frame didn't come up empty... The system has been growing quite nicely lately.. We are up to 195 User accounts and 221 Active domains .. The nightly maintence scripts are working perfect firing off mail to people who haven't logged in for sometime.. Some users are nea ring the 90 day point and there account/domains will be removed.. I'm planning on letting more people know the system is up sometime soon.. Probably through announcements on other websites.. Latz.

 Site Statistics - 1999-05-07 15:56:38
Wow... After our posting on www.geeknews.net we got an increadible influx of hit... Our stats show: 286 Visitors, 7,822 Web Hits We have received hits from almost every country! .. Hope everyone is enjoying using the system.. Latz.

 aDSL go down ;( - 1999-05-06 19:20:31
Just to let anyone know who was trying to hit the site earlier that the DSL box that we are hooked into went down for about 60 minutes tonite... Fortunately this is a rare occurance. And even more fortunately all FDNS users wouldn't notice much because of our backup DNS... Access to the graphical domain manager would have been down.. But resolving names is mosttimes more important.. Latz.

 Truncated Logins - 1999-05-06 12:11:40
Ok.. Basically the person who did the HTML layout (Velkro) didn't specify a maximum length for the login field in the HTML... In the database it's 10 characters.. So I've fixed that.. Now if your having problems logging into the system just cut your login name down to 10 characters and try logging in... If you lost your password.. Enter an incorrect login name/password, click on cancel and use the password mailer. Latz.

 www.geeknews.net - 1999-05-06 08:47:48
I'd like to thank everyone at geeknews.net for posting an article about our system. I feel that all the hard work that everyone has put into the system, alot of people will enjoy using it. If you have and questions or comments about the system please to drop us an email. Have fun!

 50 User / 100 Domain Mark - 1999-05-02 01:10:29
We've surpassed the 50 user / 100 domain mark. Unfortunatly, slashdot didn't post our ad/article, so thins have been pretty quiet lately. In the meantime, everything seems very stable, and I haven't recieved any comments/complaints, so we can't be doing that bad a job ;)

 Slashdot - 1999-04-22 01:26:09
Ok... Earlier tonite (actually it would be yesterday) Velkro submitted an article to slashdot.org about the site now open to everyone round the world.. So Velkro and I got together with the server and blessed it with holy water so that when the news breaks the server has a chance of surviving the severe beating that all slashdot articles usually receive.. If I get a chance this week.. I'm going to write a quick script to record the load average and network traffic that the server is pushing every minute so I can generate a neato graph laster for everyone to see.

 SQL/DNS Errors Fixed - 1999-04-19 23:50:16
We had problems earlier with DNS & the SQL server - our primary DNS server wasn't responding to queries, and this caused a lookup failure for the SQL server. We've fixed this, so it shouldn't happen again.

 Site Updates - 1999-04-19 00:13:55
I've updated most of the pages on the site with minor corrections, and did a quick FAQ revisal.

This should hold us until we do a public announcement that we are open for business. Thanks to the 40+ beta testers using the system right now for thier feedback and comments, hopefully we've got all the features in by now and all the bugs worked out.

Look for a public announcement on slashdot/freshmeat around mid-week.

 Domain Manager Revised - 1999-04-18 23:51:21
Wow... It's done.. I've completed re-writing the domain manager section of the system.. Basically some people were having a hard time understanding what format an IP should be in?!?!?! The new system forces a 4 Box system on you so that you have to enter things they way we need them... There may still be a few bugs.. If you see anything be sure to mail me ASAP! We're planning a grand opening and notification to others sometime this week... So the system's getting ready for a small beating with all the added traffic on the way.... Latz.

 Multiple Accounts?? - 1999-04-12 08:35:20
I've noticed that it looks like there are some multiple accounts for users?? And I'm not quite sure why.. Just a quick reminder.. You have have as many hosts/ domains under 1 USER account as you want... If you forgot your password to login to your USER account.. Just enter an INVALID password for it, Click on CANCEL and On the Login error page after that, there is an option to mail your user account a password in the mail... So if you have more than 1 account and you don't want it.. Please e-mail: support@fdns.net and we will erase it and transfer any hosts/domains owned by it to the account you wish to keep. Latz.

 Expiry Script Active - 1999-04-08 05:18:54
Alrighty... As stated.. Our system wants to keep its databases neat and tidy.. So the best thing to help with that is verifying that users are still using the system. So as of NOW the verify script is online.. Every time you login to the system it updates your user record with the date & time.. When the nightly maintence runs.. It checks if you have not logged into the system in 60, 75 & 90 days. And fires you off a warning email that you must login by the 91st day otherwise your account and all related domains will be purged from the system.. We don't fell it is too much to ask users to come to the site once every 3 months to help us keep things in control. Latz.

 DNS Updated & Stuff - 1999-04-04 17:25:25
OK.. Internic has finally updated and our primary is back in action answering requests.. I have started to finalize the scripts for the system bounds checking.. Were trying to get things wrapped up so that we can announce the system to SlashDot.Org .. Once that happens were expecting to get hammered for a few days.. Latz.

 Mail Problems - 1999-04-01 20:15:13
We are experiencing mail problems due to the fact that our reverse DNS has not been setup yet.. Therefore many SMTP mailers will not accept mail from us... This will hopefully be resolved shortly and mail will start flowing.. Latz.

 We Survived! - 1999-04-01 00:17:50
Well .. As it appears, we have survived the massive server/ DNS juggling act.. Much thanks to our backup server who took on all the DNS responsibilites during the outage.. It appears that it was almost an un-noticable switchover.. Latz.

 Network Outage - 1999-03-30 17:10:35
Alrighty... The FDNS server is being moved on the 31st of March to another location.. It will be back up the same day, BUT may not be accessable .. It all depends if we can get the IPs routed the way that we want.. If not at most we will have to wait for 1 - 24Hour Internic cycle. Keep tuned in. Latz.

 Final Beta Stage - 1999-03-24 12:27:12
Alrighty.. Beta stage is almost over and we think that we have worked out all the little errors. The DNS has been set to its 24 Hours Reloads [Every night at midnight] that it will stay at. Only a little more coding required for the bounds checking and whatnot. So expect us to go public to slashdot, etc. by the 2nd week of April. Latz.

 DNS Reloads - 1999-03-15 13:22:13
Ok.. I've changed it so that the DNS only reloads the databases ever 12 hours now.. At midnight and noon each day.. It was previously 6 hour.. Our goal is 1 daily reload at midnight.. The frequent reloads now are just for tracking and fixing any problems quicker. Latz.

 FAQ Updates - 1999-03-09 20:26:39
I've added in some example zone & conf files to the FAQ, so hopefully we won't get bugged for information on setting up a domain. And I'll start teaching Bonfire english soon... he's a little rusty!

 Incredible Progess - 1999-03-09 02:21:16
Wow! ... Velkro and me bounced back and forth messages on IRC last night about scripts that needed to be written/ updated and we were able to get a whole bunch of them online! They include: Network status [It was actually online yesterday], Directory of Non-hidden Users, Searching news articles, Searching out a domain name and who owns it [based on Users Hidden characteristic] also Modifying your user accounts Password and Email address. Sheesh.. Velkro has actually started to learn PHP and is getting better (I an still far worse for wear when it comes to HTML) .. And mostly important it appears that Internic has FINALLY processed my application for change of backup DNS server... Latz.

 FAQ Online - 1999-03-08 19:55:36
I've put the 1st version of the FAQ online which will hopefully cover the bulk of the quick & easy questions. If you have a question that's not answered, email me so I can add it in.

 Bounds Checking Enforced! - 1999-03-08 04:07:10
Alright... Theres no more cheating the system allowed! If you wish to create an Authorative domain or convert your host to an Authorative domain .. You MUST already have both of your Name Servers setup to answer for that subdomain. The system will NOT register one that isn't setup already.. If you don't know how to setup name servers in this manner you should probably NOT email us... I'm hoping that in our FAQ that were working on It will contain some information about how to do this for people who are unsure... In most cases a simple Host will get the job done. Latz.

 Network Status Page Operational - 1999-03-07 18:48:52
I've finished off the Network Status page, which will always contain a quick look at both the status of the network, and somce quick stats for those into that sort of thing.

 Beta Mode Started - 1999-03-04 04:53:41
The system is ready for beta mode! All domain manager functions are working (Add, Delete, and Update). The DNS resource record generation script is done and working as well. I just have to cron the script o run and restart the name server when its done. So logon, mess around and be sure to email us and tell us whats not working. Be gentle for awhile .. There are still some additional coding to do. I have to rewrite the scripts to make them easier for some people to understand (velkro). Latz.

 Beta Stage Almost Ready! - 1999-03-01 00:09:12
Ok.. Its March 1st and I promised that the system would be ready... Things are almost there! Velkro has been working madly to make the site look better and fixing up all my HTML muck-ups.. The PHP code is getting LARGE.. There will be alot of optimizing as the beta period goes on. The beta run is going to start Wednesday and consist of about 10-20 people who will try and break the system, tell us what they like/dont like.. And hopefully say they the system actually works.... Latz.

 Site Updates... - 1999-02-15 23:39:55
I changed the look of the site, and added in frames to make it a little easier to navigate, and use less bandwidth since we won't be resending the entire pages over & over again. Email complaints/critisizms and all that stuff to me if you want.

 System Update - 1999-02-07 05:34:00
The databases have been created and things are gradually moving towards activation .. We are still working on all the SQL/PHP scripts that power the site, and hope to have it up sometime soon. It is imperative that we take the time to design the system correctly and efficently. Later

 Progress Report - 1999-01-31 23:37:00
FDNS.net is not quite ready to start serving up domains, but we're nearing beta stage. Keep checking back often, as we'll be adding updates as we complete sections of the site, and as work progresses on the backend servers.

 New Look/Feel for the site. - 1999-01-15 22:55:00
Well, I've finished the 1st draft of the new site look. I was basically told to use the following colors: black, white, and blue. I was also told to keep it easy on the eyes, and not too bright. This is my 1st attempt, so let's see how it stands up to critisism.

 Intro.. - 1999-01-10 14:30:00
fdns.net will be providing free 3rd level (*.fdns.net) domains free of charge. We are currently working on coding the backend of the members side, and the DNS zonefile generation scripts. We hope to be ready to go for a round of beta testing Mar 1st, as time permits.
